u have to consider onething (incase ure ever in trouble with the law), obviously if we're guilty we can't "prove" our innocense. so the best thing to do is come up with the best story that will be difficult for them to prove wrong and make them say "damnit!" the better the story the harder the conviction. the harder the conviction, the better deals and plea bargains.
in this case (without knowing the details) there's a HUGE difference with being caught with controlled substances inside ure home than in ure car! in ure car its pretty hard to say "im a user and always carry all my gear everywhere i go". but u can make up ure own shit if its in ure home. "so fuckin what. we are all users and we stack up because they r hard to find!". everone knows ure bullshitting, but will u shake up atleast one jury with that story? sure u will. then enters sweet deals and plea bargains before trial.
the state spends crazy fuckin money every day an inmate is detained and every minute they r in court "especially" for trial. the state don't like risking losing a case if there is the slightest of chances of losing because then all their money went to waste (and they dont like losing), and the prosecutor makes a living and name for himself for future office by the highest amount of convictions. if he loses, his rep is hurt. so if he "thinks" he might lose in trial because of a bs story the jury MIGHT buy, they offer deals before trial. this way its a win/win scenario. defendant doesnt do so much time and prosecutor gets a conviction. hope that helps.
