the importance of prayer

Wow, I usually don't do politics or religion with people, but I can just log off of hear if someone wants to cuss me out LOL. So I just have a question for the non believers, why is it that us believers, will except and respect you wanting to worship a rock or whatever, but you guys don't respect our beliefs? Just saying. And by the way I have not been to church in years, so I am not a holy roller I just can't take the hypocrisy any longer LOL.

I don't think that is the case at all man. True non-believers (which means they wouldn't worship anything, especially not a rock) catch A LOT of shit from believers. This is coming from an agnostic who grew up below the Mason-Dixon line and went to college at a conservative university.

I lost A LOT of friends by telling them that I didn't believe, and suffered A LOT of hateful remarks. I won't even go into the shit my Christian FAMILY has given me...

Well Hurt, a true Christian won't judge you. They may have an opinion just like others have opinions but they should not judge you. I am sorry your Christian family treated you that way. I believe in God and Jesus as my Savior but no way would I ever think about judging someone else who chooses not to believe the way I do. God specifically instructs his followers not to judge others. Believing in God is a choice and a personal choice at that. Which always leads me to question why issues of morality are on the voting ballot. Gay marriage? I personally think it's wrong but why are we voting on it? Gay marriage is a personal choice just like heterosexual marriage. Plus, it's none of my business!

My family is my family, that's whatever. My main point is that you can't generalize about a group like that ...'Non-believers are disrespectful of the beliefs of believers, and believers are always considerate'

That's just simply not true, and making ANY generalization about a group of people is simply ignorance.

Yes, coming from a Christian family and one of my aunts married into Judaism and seeing all the flack she got from it was not very "Christian" of my family. Neither was the "God Fearing" ex sister in law who told me to put my son up for adoption because she is tired of paying my ex's child support. Not that all Christians are this way, unfortunately, people are. You cannot group a religion or non religion believers into a specific category any more than you can gather any specific race in to a category. We are all people, we all believe different things. Ex: There is one bible, but how many religions from this same bible? My sister and I were talking about this yesterday. You cannot generalize everyone into categories or judge based on one single belief. This is why we have religious wars. I don't care what you believe and you shouldn't care what I believe. My beliefs have no effect on you and yours have no effect on me. Can't we all just get along? =)

I do believe in God, I pray & I believe in the power of prayer, I know that doing this helps me & connects me with my innderself & god.

I honestly think if praying to god or how ever you religion calls it helps u & makes your faith stronger, then keep doing it.

remember there's only one bible & many religions, but at the end they all believe in "one god".

There are also many more holy books than the bible, and many religions that worship more than "one god".

You spend so long reading this forum and get to know the people that regular contribute. Now we can understand some further by discovering their opinions on faith. I am particularly impressed with me and Mrs P. I am sure we would be good friends in real life.

Many others too like zeek et Co. maybe we should have a steroidology holiday in Phuket. Hire a big house and meet up

I'd like to see freedom of speech for everyone.

Instead we have the few censoring what they think is okay.

Nazi Ass Fuckers!

There is always going to be people out there that is going to claim to be christians, and not be. I don't judge anyone, "do you" is my moto. But all you have to do is watch what is going on in this world today, and you will see that there is a war on christianity. I think this country was founded on christian beliefs, if you say no it wasn't, just look at our laws. It was. So I hope that the christians that judge you do a gut check, because this is a fact, it is very hard to change someones mind about politics or religion. So being an ass hole to them is def. not going to help. If people in this country don't take a real hard look at what is happening now you will wake up one day and not have the right to worship what ever you want (including a rock). So I hope and pray for everyone in this country to see things for what they are, but I am also preparing for the worst.

I did not say the whole group of non- believers, please re-read the post. But the facts are that all of the ones that want me to shut up about Jesus, and God are non-believers. Just saying. Every person I have ever heard that spouts off about christians, says the word ignorance in their name calling, so you just showed me your hand for sure with the name calling. I will not resort to name calling, I will just say, you can believe anything you want, but when anyone, especially someone that matters tries telling me what I can and cannot believe, I WILL NOT COMPLY.

I respect people and there right to believe what they want until Im given a reason to resend that respect. Minister you seem like good people. You didnt hijack a thread and jam it down someones throat. You simply started your own thread and invited people in. For that reason...... you deserve my respect and have it!

You referred simply to non-believers, which is a generalization...you didn't say 'some non-believers' and you didn't say 'a sub-set of non-believers' you simply said 'non-believers'.

My statement about ignorance was in no way referring to your faith, nor was it name-calling, but was a statement regarding anyone who makes generalizations about a group of people. Perhaps you should re-read my post.

Do not for one second try to spin this as me 'spouting off' against any denomination of Christianity, or any faith for that matter.
