somebody tell me why every gym you go to you see young kids not training there legs. were they not taught the correct way to train? do they think it looks cool to have a developed upper body and legs like a chicken? everytime i see them in the gym i cant help but start laughing. having to wear long shorts to hide their puny legs. i train at golds gym in brooklyn ny and if they only knew how us hardcore guys laugh at them everytime they flex in the mirror. so to all you young kids out there not training your legs, GET YOUR ASS IN THE SQUAT RACK and stop looking like some side show freaks. legs are the most satisfying but also the hardest bodypart to train. sorry for the rant brothers but damn its annoying.

they will learn eventually, the saddest part about it all is they measure how strong they are by how much they can bench.

think of it this way, if im a def lineman in football and i can bench 500 but only squat 250, when i go to create separation from the off lineman, i will do nothing but push myself away from the play...............squats and deads tell me how strong someone is, not bench.

Good stuff bro. I never understood it either. Your legs are the largest muscles in your body. If you got puny legs, you got no foundation. Nothing looks more stupid than a developed upper body and legs like pine tree branches.

very true oak. training legs also seperates the men from the boys. the ones that are truely in there for the sport. a TOTAL body workout is the only way to train. on a positive note we have 1 kid in my gym, man this kid works his legs. and he trains hard in all bodyparts. not a big guy by any means, but well proportioned. and to me thats what its all about

Why not try and help them instead of laughing at them ?
no on walks into a gym for the first time and knows everything about training.
I didn't know how to train until a fellow gym member gave me a quick run down on the basics of building a well rounded physique.

If you have a good build they will listen to you.

ive seen these same kids in the gym for at least a year now. and they'll tell you straight up they have no desire to work their legs. as long as their arms look good in a t-shirt they could care less what their covered up legs look like. im a personal trainer and ive befriended many of them and tried to teach them the fundamentals. for some they see it as just to much work for very little exposure

Glad to see you at least tried.

Its because they think big legs are ugly, boring to train and you suffer when you train it hard since its a big musclegroup.

I used to be a kid like that, the first year.

Now legs are pretty much my favorite. I love the pump, the exhaustion and the way I can push myself beyond the limit because there is so much power to squeeze out and you can litteraly go "on and on, no matter what happen" :D

Love it.

ya this is one of my biggest pet peeves. i can literally walk into my gym any time, any day and get the squat rack whenever i want cuz no one squats. they use it for shrugs and terrible looking bent over rows. they are your largest muscles, if you want to weigh more, train your legs and your lbs will go up and up and by actually breaking down your largest muscles you will burn more calories during and up to 72 hours after your workout.

When in doubt, train legs. Period. I don't care what manner of athlete you claim to be. On thisthis particular planet, with its predictable gravitational characteristics, all of our power is derived from contact with what we colloquially refer to as the "ground". Use that power. The remainder of your body will fall in line.

No shit. You want big arms? Train you legs.

I seriously doubt if anybody would argue with that statement.

The bigger your legs are the smaller you package looks... That's probably their thought process. Think about it this way though:

It's hard to Squat. If you are Squatting correctly (bar back, driving through your heels, arching your back hard, driving your knees out, etc) it's a workout with 135 pounds on your back. People like taking the easy way out. Easy is easy, there's nothing more to it.

The same reason people don't spell correctly, punctuate or capitalize properly.

They don't care.

I hate the pain when working them but love the soreness I get after. Kind've an oxymoron. I agree, I see many who don't work their legs; hence, they haven't grown since the first time I've seen them in the gym. Legs are KING but hurt like a biatch

use to train with my cousin, whos a brooklyn cop. never juiced a day in his life. just a barrel chested cock strong son of a biatch. when we worked legs, his squatting consisted of a warmup set, then 2 plates on each side for 25 reps. then 3 plates for 20 reps. wed do a total of about 6 or 7 sets. never went more than 3 plates. just banged out 20 to 25 reps per set. had legs like tree trunks. he believed in the high reps till failure training when squatting. a freak of nature. he was an intense guy when it came to training his legs

Sadly my legs never grow I leg press 700lbs squat religiously and my legs look like a 10th old paraplegic any suggestions lol I would love tips

Good to see you Recon..!!!!
When i could squat 655 in the 198s..I could dead and bench accordingly..
Years later...after 2 major and several minor knee procedures behind me..and left me with little or no miniscus and cartiledge to speak of..all my movement s are down..
if I could..i would...SQUAT.

I agree with the consensus regarding youths tendency to meander towrds leg development. However like all paths eventually the proprieties due with aesthetics should lead to implementation of proper aesthetic balance.
