Has anyone here made thier own sled at home? who has the easiest method for building a durable, cheap, homemade sled? Previously I was using my wheel barrow with the wheel and handles removed, so its just the empty tub that I fill with rocks from my yard. this works well since its so deep and has a lip on the front, but I cant put it in my car and bring it anywhere. so lets hear some ideas for building a sled, keeping in mind it has to be:
1. cheap
2. easy to build
3. portable
4. reasonably durable

i use tires there typically free if you ask a local tire shop.
drill hole in tire
use and EYE bolt one washer in side one washer out side
10-12ft of heavy chain and quick links...good to go for under 20 bucks...
i have a small sport style tiree bout 30~lbsa
and a bigger off road tire bout 40`lb
10ft of heavy chain=16lbs

i also had a tire but ran a rope through it. i put a board inside and loaded plates in it.

some dumb fucker at my complex stole it the other day though.

also i must point out that tire pullin is meant for "grass pullin" on concrete it is much much easier than on grass...trust me..and the taller/wetter the grass the shittier it is to pull on.. ;)

also may wanna try a quick search on "sleds" and "sled taining" lots of good threads on this already too.
I was mostly just trying to get everyone to throw out some ideas that may not have been posted before. Ill probably stick with my empty wheel-barrow, but your tire idea looks interesting.

i know Black...just wasnt sure if you tried a search yet is all..not trying to throw you under ther bus or anything...

take a piece of flat steel1.5-2ftx 2-3 fettx 3/16to 1/4 inch thick. Bend or weld and gusset and lip in the front. Weld a piece of round stock upright in the center so you can put plates on it. Weld or bolt a trailer tie down to the front and attach a rope or chain etc to it and the other end to a belt.

I built 1 abnout a yr ago. Was simple all u need is some flat metal, welder, bout a 12in peice of pipe. I have cutting torch and welder and also had all the stuff i needed laying around at our farm. Took me less then 1 hr 2 build.
