Any of ya'll hunt, fish, hike, shoot or just like to get outdoors?? As much time as I spend on here nowadays I dont have time to go talk to my huntin buddies on other forums. So whatever it is lets hear it.

Some of you may not consider this the right forum but there was nowhere else appropriate for it. And some of the hiking of done tracking down game it should be considered a sport!!!

I'll start.... I hunt anything that moves pretty much, and fish for anything fresh water, I'm trying to get into some competetive long range shooting, And my wife and I go hiking every year on vacation, nothing intense just around state parks. Ducks, Turkey and Deer are my main Hunting areas but I dont discriminate. I am a pretty serious Bass fisherman Preferably Smallmouth bass, which are few and far between around here, And I like Savage rifles and Benelli shotguns. How bout the rest of ya.

I'm a big outdoorsman! Love to hunt....shot my first bull elk last Nov. He scored 332 sixteen year of putting in. Drew a antelope for August. Waterfowl hunt every chance I get and yes a I shoot a benelli.

Congrats on your Elk. We have a draw system here for them but its once in a lifetime tag, So I only put in for the bull, But the cow hunt is pretty easy to draw for. Our Antelope is draw only and in 2 counties unless you bow hunt its over the counter, But if you draw one for rifle you have to have written permission from landowner, Its really not worth it there isnt that many antelope only in the panhandle(I've actualy been searching for a guide to go antelope hutning next August in New mexico since there is no draw for private land). All deer tags are OTC here. And duck hunting is my #1 passion Probably going to Arkansas and Louisiana this year on some hunts. I just have a nova right now but been saving my money for a Super Black Eagle II(long as my wife doesnt find out) It would be hard for me to justify a $1500 shotgun in her eyes. good to know someone else out there is huntin. I dont know exactly where you live but I may be coming your direction in April for a turkey hunt, I'm in search of a Merriam turkey so it will be New Mexico or South Dakota or anywhere in between

awesome thread!! i fish for trout, mostly in streams. browns, bows, brookies, bulls and even grayling are my favs. i have yet to go this year, but my fav grayling stream jus opened up last week, its prolly high and dirty right now. Took my daughter fishing for northerns last summer and she caught a 10 pounder, maybe i will post a pic of it on here. she was scared shitless at first but then pround as hell when she realized the accomplishment. I recently got into fishing for wallys and northerns as thats pretty much is most abundant here. when i go back home to B.C though it's all about the salmon and trout.

Hell ya. I live in the south/southwest, so we dont have any native trout but they have stocked 3 or 4 rivers with rainbows and browns, and myself, my dad and my brothers go almost every weekend once deer season is over. We have a few places to catch walleye and I love 'em, my state has implemented a lake record program for all fish and last May I caught a walleye 6 oz. short of setting the lake record. Never caught a northern though, I would love to!!! My dad used to rodeo all over Michigan and only worked weekends up there so he fished 5 days a week and caught several fish that we dont have down here. He caught some big salmon in a river in the U.P. with a wierd name. But his favorite was river smallmouth. That is also my favorite but there is only about 5 rivers in my whole state that have them and there not close to me. I love taking trips all over to hunt and fish, and one of the top things on my list is Lake erie with a good guide. I got my sone into fishing pretty hardcore last spring and he caught several 2.5-4lb bass by himself he was 6 at the time, If I can find any of his pics I'll post them

I live in a trophy state so I will not be able to put in for elk for 10 years. As for deer just muleys that I love to hunt. This is the first year in 4 years I did not draw a deer tag. Turkey tags are twice a year here spring and fall hunts (Rio grands) can't wait for October for goose hunting. Save up the money for that super black eagle you will never go back to a pump gun! I have two... a 20 for chuckar and a 12 for waterfowl.

^^^Muleys are another thing that are scarce hear, We have a few out west but not many. There is one good public hunting place that has good numbers but its archery only, so if you have the time you can probably get one. As far as upland we have quail and a few pheasants in the northwest. I guess thats why I've been such a big waterfowl and turkey guy. I'm pretty lucky I have about 1000 acres of private land to hunt, just me and my dad, So the turkey hunting is pretty easy(at times) We have a fall turkey for archery only, WE have mostly Rio's with The eastern quarter of the state being Eastern's and hybrids, and a few Merriam's in the far part of the panhandle(almost colorado)

Cool, in B.C I fish for bronze backs n bucket mouths, there's 2 rivers I know of there that has bass in them, one is the pende oreille or however it starts it has big steelhead and bass, I think it even starts in washington before entering B.C. I recomend looking into that one.

Awesome brother thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I love everything about smallies, there fight and there beauty, I could catch them all day. I grew up catching largemouth so I'd rather catch a 2-3lb smallie than 8 lb largemouth

Thats a pretty good thread man some big fish in there. I'm gonna post a few pics of me and my son if I can figure it out....

The first pic up there was in a farm pond and he's muddy cause I was affraid if I tried to wash him off he would get away before I got a pic. The last one is my son when he was 6, He's caught several that size and bigger but I cant find the rest of the pics. The only fish that we keep are walleye, trout, sand bass and crappie. Everything else is catch and release. The biggest walleye in the midlle pic is the one I almost set the lake record with, I'm sure it doesnt compare to the walleye you guys have up north but we dont have many of them

Here is a few more

Unfortunately this is my largest bronze back to date there just isn't many of them here, I caught him in a stream about 10 yds wide and about 2-3 ft deep

That's awesome wacey, thanks for sharing. That's a nice wally you got there. Do you like using topwater plugs? I sure do, I have these frog ones that have legs on them that make a swimming motion, and I use them on northerns, but anyways when I real them in I get kind of sidetracked watching the swimming movement of them that when a big gator comes up and smashes it it scares the shit out of me. So much fun though. I wish there was some bass here, your pics make me want to go back home right now and fish for them. I would drive 16 hours for the chance at an hours worth of great fishing...

Thats funny shit man. I have some top water frogs, I think there called ribbit and they kinda have paddle feet so they swim, Sometimes I'll rig them up like a texas rig and fish weed beds with them when the bass are spawning and tear em up man. I too would drive just about any distance for good fishing, especially smallies!!!! I want to go on some remote salmon trip some day up north somewhere where i can see some moose or bears or something we dont have down here, in southeast Oklahoma this yr we had our first bear season. In the heat of the summer we'll get up before dawn and go throw some top water poppers as teh light is comin in, there is nothin like the morning light shining on the pond as a largemouth jumps out of the water to steal your top water jig!! Damn I'm gettin excited now gonna have to go fishin this weekend. Glad I started this thread!!

Cool man, I will find some info for on those trips you dream of. Canada is full of that shit I love it. Ther's some rivers in B.C that I'd recomend carrying rifles on, loded with grizzlies. I'm looking into guided trip for salmon myself, I would prefer unguided but it's going to be the ocean and I have little expierience with that. But those salmon trips are worth every penny, not cheap but worth it.

Pere Marquette River | Fishing Guide

This is the guy my dad went with when he was in Michigan, There buddies so I can probably get a good deal, My dad caught a good one with this guy cant remember how big but he said it took him almost an hr to get him in. Ya that ocean shit can get tricky if you dont have much experience out ther. I myself have never fished salt water, My dad said it was boring compared to those steelhead. But I would like to go fish for salmon in the ocean, but dont care to go to the gulf and fish for tropical shit(not that it would even be an option right now) Hell man if you need a fishing buddy on a trip soemtime let me know, I'm always lookin for sombody else to go with, and if you ever come down this way I can take you to catch some big largemouths and some freakin huge catfish if your into them, I ussually only catfish at night in mid summer so I can sit on the bank and drink some beer, when I'm bass fishin I'm a pro(thats what I tell my wife anyways, but she just laughs) I'd probably shit myself if I saw a grizzly out there but man it would be worth it, I've never even seen a black bear in the wild, hell we barely even have mountain lions, only thing we have to worry about is the damn snakes

Ive never fished for catfish, red river in manitoba is loaded with them, And bears are pretty cool to see, I always see black bears on every trip. Ive yet to see a wolf on a trip though. On wednesday I will post some cool shit on here when I get back to my own computer. I could go fishing everyday if I choose, but I choose not to fish the local lakes as they are loaded with foriegn people that all of a sudden can't speak english when the conservation officers pull up.
