attn 40+ windbags - Does cardio suk on cycle?

leanbody

man on a mission
Anyone in the over 40 crowd have an opinion how gear effects your cardio?

i'm halfway thru a test/EQ/Deca cycle and on this one and the last one, i noticed it is harder to get deep breaths, i snore, and my cardio suks. i couldn't sprint to save my ass atm although I can do the treadmill moderately for 30 mins.

Is this just age creeping up on me (I'm 51), the 20 lbs i've gained, or does gear affect lung function?

thanks windbags!

Age no.
2o pounds--- hell fkn yes.
Most gear kill s cardio..period.
I m 46- 47 in 2 months and do cardio at 120-130 bpm till I get bored with it for 12-20 -45 minutes. 2- 4 time s a week depending on cycle, time of year and/or how much ice cream im putting in my weight gainer.
On cycle it get s harder to do it..but you HAVE to..the heart is the most neglected major muscle in this sport..in my opinion.

Thanks for the responses guys. i went to a cardio boxing classlast week which should have been easy but i was totally sukking wind. i'm going to keep up with it tho because i love a heavy bag workout.
It's the Water retention and the fact that cardio always sucks. Jump on a Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and drop the water it will help your BP tooo.

Dread;
I'm taking .25 mg of exemestane ed now - you think I should switch to Letro or up the dose? i know i'm holding water because of the deca too but it seems to make my joints happy so that's worth it.

BTW i went to check my BP at the drug store today and FINALLY my bi's are too big to get into the sleeve! hahahaha It just kept reading error! LOL - that felt good....

This +1

3-4 times a week with <150 bpm for 15 minutes.

Too many guys think when they do "cardio" they need to be huffing and puffing like an asthma suffer.

Cardio is important for everyone but especially those of us over 40 yrs old. The problem with most of the guys I see in the gym doing what they call cardio is INTENSITY. They need to back it off to less than 150 bpm - no more - for a consistent 15 minutes. That's it.

More than that and you are going to raise the cortisol in your blood and create all kinds of issue for your training that will eventually lead you down the path of overtraining.

It depends on what you're running, but deca and tren killed my cardio capabilities. Especially tren. When on cycle I generally only do durational cardio, but if I want to go enjoy a nice hike or do something outdoors that requires a higher intensity level of cardio capacity it's a miserable hell.

How bad is it? I did a strenuous hike one week after my last cycle and it took me 70 minutes to summit. I did the same hike yesterday (five weeks later) and knocked 30 minutes off that time.

Update:

i went to my second cardio boxing class yesterday and it wasn't quite as bad as the first. i am just not used to being SO winded that i have to stop and catch my breathe. I'm going to keep up with it and see where that goes. Also going to drop the deca down to 250mg a week and see if it still solves the joint problem.

I do the regular cardio - t-mill, elliptical where the HR is up at 130 or so but that seems so weenie....

I am 32, its affecting my cardio big time. Just on 1st cycle T/E 500mg wkly going into 7th week -- getting better though. Heavy breathing occurs yes, however what affects negatively is the massive pumps in back & legs.

Taurine will help a lot with that.

Yup and it's hauling around the extra weight - last time i did boxing for cardio i was 185 - I'm up 20lbs from that now...How much have you gained on your cycle?

Agree leanbody, its the extra weight adding to the decreased cardiovascular capacity.

I went from 214lb - to 242s peaks (7 wks on today exactly ) ... last few weeks steady at 237-242lb.

Age, weight and chemicals. Its a combination of all 3. Loosing the excess weight will be the most beneficial for you tho.
Test and deca do make me feel like the cardio is more difficult, def!
You will get back into it tho, just give it time bro.

Randy;
That is some impressive gains!!!! reasonably clean? Props to you man.

yeah my cardio was suffering a little bit on the test/primo but not as bad as i thought. then again i was used to playing basketball, doing drills and scrimmages/pick-up games for hours several times a week, going heavy was 5-7 days a week like that.

when i added the npp it started getting worse. i had heard taurine was good for it, as nate mentioned.... i have some on the way.

So far maxed out at 242lb leanbody from Nov 25 @214lb. (logged everything in detail. See cycle forum.)

Yes, relatively clean. As a general rule of thumb. My vege diet contains above average carbs, that helped a lot in training and the initial bulking up. In fact the bloat became uncomfortable at times, especially the first few weeks. I blew up like a blow fish.
