Yes.

I understand the theories of both sides...especially the "movement" during aspiration. Pin seems to always move a bit for me...my poor tissue. But I am a newb so in time I will get better.

But, I was taught that from the begining so it is habit now...always do.

i find it difficult to aspirate with 25g pins. can't get much draw-back on the syringe when i pull back...usually prefer 23g pins for that reason, but maybe i just have really bad form. related: who has 'struck blood' aspirating with a 23 or 25g before?? did the blood barely trickle into the syringe, or was it more pronounced? and how hard do you usually pull back on the plunger (realize this is difficult to quantify)? i pull pretty fucking hard (causing excessive movement of the needle), to the point i imagine my tissue getting sucked into the needle (haha). this is an exaggeration of course, just curious how hard others pull back. cheers.

i had the same image of my flesh getting sucked up into the needle almost every time until i actually drew a steady stream of blood up. after that i just stopped thinking about how hard i pulled for some reason. wierd.

ouch! haha.

who DOESN'T aspirate when doing sub-q HCG shots? i haven't been...does this mean i will be stoned in public? :spank:

I am absolutely blown away that this is even an issue for discussion much less 5 pages of responses. Why the FUCK would you not aspirate?

Would you load a gun with one bullet, spin it and fire it into your head hoping the one you loaded wasn't in the chamber? for you who think it's no big deal ...Listen to the moderators and people like BuffDoc. This is no joke. Plus it's pretty selfish. How would your family members feel when they walk in and your laying there with a needle sticking out of you?

i didnt before cause i didnt know about it yea i wasdumb back then but anyways one time i must of injectedinto a vien because man what a rush i was scared there for a minute got all hot reall quick sweatyheart racin never again

Never have...I know a TON of doc/nurses and none of them do either. If you're inexperienced I would start out aspirating just to be sure. Even though it would take way more oil to cause serious problems than any of us routinely inject.

what? i too know a "ton" of docs, and they ALL aspirate. what are you talking about? they wont aspirate for shallow injections like sub cute, but always for deep shots.

i aspirate.. just making sure i'm doing it the right way.. basically, when you are ready to inject, with the test already in the syringe.. insert the needle and draw.. if there is no blood, go ahead with your injection?

I aspirate until I see a bubble or two expand within my syring or the hub. I do this everytime. The risks aren't worth it for something vainty based.

i have 3mL syringes and i fill them up to 2.8 with each of my injections. would pulling back 0.2mL be enough for the aspiration pressure needed?
