Have I messed up my future? (2.3gpa as a senior)

I am currently a senior in high school(I'm 18) and have recently decided I want to become a nutritionist/personal trainer. My gpa is 2.3 nearly. Have I messed up my future? I did terrible sophomore and junior year due to personal issues/family problems and honestly not giving shit about school. Just this past year I got this thought in my head that I should have done more. What's your guyses input? I want to live a comfortable life when I'm older and don't want to be flipping burgers when I'm 20 and barely getting by :/

All is not lost my friend, you're still very young! To become a PT you just need a cert so that isn't a big deal. If you want to get into a good 4 year school to study nutrition, you'll probably need to attend a community college first to get your grades up, then transfer. I have a lot of friends who did this.

Haha you talk about flipping burgers at 20 like 20 is super old...

A 'tard can get certified as a PT. Our gym has a contract with a local school that teaches PT so all the students come use our gym during off-peak hours as a training center. When I look at some of them, I think there is no way in hell I would ever go to someone who does not look the part. If you want to make money, be good at math and social skills so you can build clientele in a private practice. There is no money in working as a PT for a gym but you have to start there to "pay your dues".

I would follow Hurt's advice and go to college because you might want to do something later in life. Get your PT cert and work part time while you go to college. IMHO....

What would be a good paying job that involves nutrition or fitness of some sort then? I'm leaning towards the nutritionist. Any other ideas?

A good PT in a private setting can make a GREAT living. Don't give it up because you won't make a ton of money right out of the gate. Like any career, you gotta put in the time.

A nutritionist in a school setting makes good money but seems kind of boring to me.

PT and nutrition combined could be a lethal combination if you put the two together in a private setting and take the time to make a good name for yourself. The PT game is all about referrals from your current clientele!

I do enjoy both and want to have a job that I will be able to wake up and not dread. Guess its not all about the money anyway if it's something your going to be doing the rest of your life.

I will say this. Your GPA from high school matters jack sh!t in the real world.

I wanked off in highschool near the end, but was honor roll in 9th-10th grade. Got into college was deans list/honor society, then some bad things happened in life and I had a quarter where I basically walked out. Not sure how that effected my grades.

But I am going back to college now for 7 years to get my doctorate, being 25 I will be in my 30''s when I finish.

I currently make 15.25 as a lead at a company, honestly just using my brain everyday to guild/lead people. Its not banging money, but I also have not cashed my last 3 weeks of paychecks because...I havent needed to.

Its more so about who you are, how much people like you. With no degree I had a job making insane money that my friend got me into(Roofing sales right after a storm).

Networking, networking, networking. You want a job go to a classy hangout place, upper class bar, etc. Make sure YOU know your sh!t then schmooze with everyone that looks important, be a great person to be around. The more friend you make, the more your set in life.

I have found you can make more money with only a high school education if you strategically network, than you ever will as a college grad who can't think outside the box.

There are two kinds of people in this word. Those who are limited to being parts of machines, and those who build machines themselves.

By the time I am done with school I will have..

NASM certification
Bachelors in Exercise Science
CSCS certification
Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Then after I settle in I will go for nutrition, and then nursing. Basically I never plan to stop school.

I am really not worried about what kind of highschool grades I had in 05. Neither is any future employer.

very impressive Zero!!!! I went on and finished my Masters Degree, and now as I look back,i wished i wouldve got my PhD....but its been over 20 years since i got m Master's,i really would be an ole dude now in class lol,i applaud you though brother!!! very proud to see what you want out of life!!!

Listen bro. I had like a 1.5 GPa in HS. I got into community college then made good grades and got into a university. You have all the hope in the world. Just do good on your SATs. High school is a joke.

H.S. is a joke but I will not tell my son that until he is out of H.S. I didn't finish 9th grade due to some family medical issues. Went to a community college earned my AA then went to CSUN and received my BA in English (which does nothing except provide me with a degree, lol). I have run a multi-million dollar company, which tanked, lol, (NOT because of me, the trade rates doubled over night and we lost all our overseas clients; not good for an export company). Would it have saved me time to have done well and finished H.S.? Yes. Could it have saved me money through earning a scholarship? Yes. Did it wreck my life? No.

You are good to go AS LONG AS you take your future seriously starting NOW.

No...its not all about the SAT's, or the ACT's.

At least here its not. As long as you attend a community college first, you DO NOT need an SAT or ACT to go to university.

I will be going to Columbus state community college then transferring to OSU(Buckeyes Baby) for probably the last 3 years.

My buddy is an EMT, never took an SAT....I will have a PhD....not hindered by no SAT....

Half this college crap is all bullsh!t anymore.

I currently have NO degree yet, and at work where I am a boss I have people who have 4 year degrees working under me.

Its not about a piece of paper, its about your guts. If you want it bad enough, you will get it.

To be honest...Credit scores are also Bullsh!t, as is most of the false sources of stress in the states...

The only people SAT's and Credit Scores, and all that crap apply to...are the cogs of the machine.

Say fk it to being a cog, step above the system. Its not too complicated.

Do you know how many people own their own companies, who have filed bankruptcy at least once in their life before, and never even went to college?

How your life goes depends on your balls. If you have some, you control the direction regardless of societies standards.

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess I don't have anything to worry about. High school has been hell for me to be honest.

no you have not messed up your future....bust your ass in community college, be sure to take a math class every single semester because math is what usually keeps people from transfering on time. Take summer school! do what u have to do and transfer.. TALK TO A COUNSELOR and make an education plan to keep u on track.. Community college is awesome but its so easy to lose your way and never end up transfering, just do what your supposed to do, Good luck bro!

Sounds good. I am excited to graduate so I can do my own thing. I think the freedom in college compared to high school speaks for itself as well. Hopefully Ill still have enough room in my schedule to get the physique I want though.
