sleep

I really need to get more sleep. At the moment I'm only getting about 6-7 hours a night and it's just not enough. I'm tired when I enter the gym after work. Sometimes I even have to take a nap in the evening before training.
I'm taking my usual day off today and I'm gonna try getting 9hrs sleep tonight. I should be in tip-top form for Thursday's benching. I'm expecting a new PB of 220 x 5 - CMOOOOONNN!!!!!

weight

CAn somebody explain something to me. A 20kg plate weighs 45lbs, right? The bar weighs 20kg/45lbs, right? So when I put on 4 plates that is 20*4 + 20(Bar) = 100kg. 100kg = 220lbs? Or is it 45lbs*4 + 45lb bar = 225lbs.
What is the right conversion I should be using? AFAIK 1kg = 2.201lbs~ ?

So am I actually lifting 225 or 220. Bleh?

I use kg too. And yes, you're right, just multiply the kgs by 2.2
100 kg= 220 lbs

About your deadlift grip, what grip are you using? Are you doing the tradicional one hand facing up and the other facing down?

yes

Yes, exactly like that. Legs inside arms. I used to do sumo because of my height but now I only do traditional. What about yourself?

It's counter-productive alright but so hard to avoid. I'm gonna cut my beer down a lot and try to get to bed earlier from now on.

how is drinking "hard to avoid"? hers a tip, dont put alcohol in your mouth. =0l

Well I'm student (no discipline) and I'm Irish (no discipline) and I am partial to the odd cold beverage of the alcoholic kind. I got a few 21st parties coming up here this weekend. I'll most likely fall off the wagon but I wanna try and keep intake as low as possible. After this weekend I'm going to go dry for 3 weeks. It's VERY hard to do when your social life revolves around your mates drinking all the time! None of them lift so they don't get it!

find new friends. there are plenty of folks who dont drink. =0l

A little bit of booze is no harm? What about 5-6 beers on the weekend that would be great. But I normally have 30 pints over the course of friday/saturday. That's the problem. And no, there aren't plenty of students over here who DON'T drink. But I can see just what you mean. A shower with a raincoat on and all that. I am taking your advice because I know the bingeing is certainly not helping me.

Hey big man

nice journal. PB's right bro, drinking is counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish.

a little social drinking is fine if you can stop at 2 beers. plus the pubs and stuff are filled with smoke, another detrement. stay in your dorm room and study lifting videos. =0l

haha

Nah there is a smoking ban in Ireland. Also, I have the luxury of a house. Things went a bit monkey last night though, ended up having 6 bottles of heineken then went for 5 pints of guinness in the pub. I'm ashamed of myself. Week was going well and all! Not feeling great at work today. My lifting will suffer tonight. Don't be mad, pullinbig. I promise I'll give it up soon!

Thinking about it though, it's not that bad because that stout feckin filled me to the brim. I went for fries, chicken burger and chicken tenders then and a big coke. Om nyom! At least it'll help me get heavier

damn bubba you sound like you got a drinking problem to me. "i can quit anytime i jes dont want to". "ill quit soon, i promise" :D

great logic to justify getting hammered. =0l

dave if you wanna drink then drink and quit making excuses why you drink. its tough to be a drunk and get "swole". the choice is yours to make. nuff said.

I take your point totally. It's easy for you to say though as you ain't a student anymore! So many social situations I'm put in every week, and also the fact I live in a country where the whole social scene revolves around the pub and the club so there ain't much I can do about really. I'm definitely going to cut it down. I hadn't a great workout earlier, didn't really have the energy. I put it down to the boozing last night. Went as follows...

Bent-Over BB Rows:
135 x 10
175 x 6
200 x 5
210 x 3

Forward-grip wide weighted chins:
BW x 8
45 x 5
45 x 5

HH DB Curls:
45 x 7
55 x 6

Didn't have the energy. I'm like a broken record on here already. Going to get at least 8 hours sleep tonight and hit that bench tomorrow afternoon.
WILL BENCH 220 x 5!!! THESE LONG ARMS WILL DO THE TALKING, BOYO!!! :)

nice work bro. man i bet you would get HUGE and STRONG if you quit drinking. Not only that, but i bet you would feel GREAT about yourself too.
