VM's First Cycle

Great log VM - I'm following brother. I'll be running a very similar first cycle in January and this log has me totally pumped. Keep it up my man!

I'll be looking forward to that. You have a good base and plenty of potential.

wrt the workout routine, I am still not sure of what to do. Havent done a 5 days split before, and not sure if doing the 4 days split that I do now will be optimal for during the cycle!!!
You seem to be following a different kind of workout that changes phases? What is that like?

Don't get me wrong; I'm not anti-split routines. They've worked very well for me in the past. But.... I tried this program twice with my old workout partner and I never saw better strength and size. I think it's good to switch things up to keep your body guessing. Sometimes it's just changing grip, sometimes exercise, exercise order, or even going from split to push/pull or full body. I would recommend BBB for someone who never misses a workout. I have the e-book which has a lot of useful information in general and a complete outline on what exercises to choose from etc. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it though.

I'm a big believer in frequency and volume for size. If you have the option to do 5 days/week versus 4 I would do 5. I can't see you overtraining on 5 days on gear. I'm doing 6 right now with barely any isolation exercises. My suggestion for you is to start with 5 days/week but start with 1 less set per exercise for the first week and then add volume from there to see what you can tolerate.

Day 27

My upper back and shoulders have blown up so much that I've lost almost all flexibility to get under the squat bar or even reach the back of my head comfortably. I have to bring my hands out to the collar now to get the bar into the shelf of my traps. I'm still a little nervous to push it past 500 because of my previous lower back injury (unrelated to lifting). It might be more of a mental thing than anything but I've been in a bed for months unable to walk and quite frankly it scares me. Maybe I'll try wearing a belt for once...never tried it.

Workout

BB seated press
Ab wheel on toes
Close-grip decline
Squats

subscribed!!! going to get my diet in order and learn as much as poss b4 i take the leap. Log is awesome bro and keep up the good work!

So you are using BBB for your current cycle? I would like to give it a try, maybe use it and alternate it with a less volume/intensity 5 days split every month. I agree with what you have suggested, as to start with one less set for the first week and adjust accordingly.
Do you have a link to download that e-book from? That would be great!

I'm sorry if I seem to be hijacking your thread, I just would like to hear your opinion and learn from you as I am getting close to start my cycle :)

Thanks once again, and wrt your progress, it is more than impressing!!! keep rockin the weight plates!

It's not meant to be alternated with other programs. It is what it is; a form of periodization. You'll be short changing yourself by program hopping. I actually found a link to a pdf of the book. I'm doing the 6 days a week 1 workout per day one. The 4 days a week is not enough volume and the 2 workouts per day is too much volume. You'll understand what I mean when you read it.

Whatever you decide, stick with a program and don't get caught in the training ADD a lot of guys fall in to.

There's a lot of good information on this forum. If you haven't read the stickies yet I highly suggest it. And will do :D

Day 28

Day of rest. I weigh about 258lbs now which is the most I've ever weighed. I honestly didn't expect this much weight gain and I've even dialed back on calories just so it wouldn't be as noticeable. I'm stretching out my XXL shirts now.

Day 29

I shot my right glute this morning. When I pulled the needle out more blood than normal came out. I applied pressure like normal with an alcohol pad but this time I felt pain. I let go after 2 minutes and there wasn't any blood and the pain went away. I'm thinking I hit a blood vessel.

My first vial was underfilled by 2 mL which sucks but I kind of expected it. I just started my second vial.

Once again moved up on everything in the gym. I've got about 3 days left of dbol so I'm just going to run it out. I saw one of my friends in the gym that's been using for a long time and he was laughing when he saw me. He said I look completely different and my weight gain is "noticeable as hell." He said normally a first cycle isn't this noticeable so either it's because I've never touched anything before or my test is overdosed. But even if the test was overdosed I wouldn't notice the effects until week 4-5 anyway due to the ester right?

Workout

Lat pulldowns
BB incline
EZ bar curls
Seated calf raises

Day 29

...... He said I look completely different and my weight gain is "noticeable as hell."

hahahahah - VM - you're going to be a big fukker when u finish this cycle! get ready for the christmas inquisition......and the follow up question: "what are you going to do when you are done?" (with gaining) lol

Hope you post some before and after's for us to ogle... BTW you will almost certainly loose some "roundness" from the water from dbol after that's done. Its most noticeable for me in the face (and on the scale - i'll bet 5lbs.) are you taking adex or something else as an ai?

Lol I didn't even think about christmas. My family actually has a lot of big strong guys on my father's side so I'll probably just play it off that I finished maturing or something.

My friend said I don't have bad moonface but he could notice a little bloat in my face. I'm taking adex for my Aromatase inhibitor (AI) @ 0.25mg eod. I'm also taking creatine so I'm retaining water from that as well.

As far as pics go, I didn't take any before shots. I might take some after ones.

Day 30

I got a pump cutting my hair with clippers. Moved up a little bit on everything but nothing more than 5lbs. I'm surprised I didn't puke after doing the ab wheel because I really pushed myself today. I taught a kid to squat today so hopefully that good karma transfers into gains tomorrow lol.

Workout

BB seated press
Close-grip decline
Squats
Ab wheel

Great log man, thanks for posting up all the info.

I'm planning on running my first cycle early next year so it's good to see a day to day account....although I won't be running any dbol :)

Hey bro,

Thank you a lot for the great info and the great piece of advice. I downloaded the e-book, and man it is great :)
I read it all, and I will be doing the same 6 days a week, one training session per day program!! I just started a week of preconditioning, and it feels so good already!

Following right on your footsteps VM!!

You must be pumped to feel the test kicking anytime now :)

No problem I hope it helps. You won't need the dbol I just really wanted to maximize my first cycle since everyone always says it's the best one.

Sounds good bud. Just make sure the exercises you choose are mostly compound free weights. If you're doing it natural you better be eating A LOT. I devoted myself to training both times and even then I barely recovered from workout to workout.

Day 31

I threw up the 150s 10 times today. I could have moved up but I felt a sensation in my elbow. It wasn't pain... more like an indication of injury if I pushed it. Maybe my muscles are growing too fast for my tendons and ligaments to catch up now? I never thought I'd say this, but this other gym's dumbbells only go up to 180s.

I was walking down the street with a girl I've been talking to today and passed a few girls. All I heard was "Oh my god look how big he is." I thought it was funny hahah

Workout

DB bench
DB row
Calf press
DB hammer curls

I hear you brother. I'm actually working on getting my diet in order before I start my cycle.
One question tho, I used your workout plan to modify it and build on it, but I noticed that there are no deadlifts! Isnt it a good compound exercise?

Another question, how do I know when to change the exercises, or will they stay unchanged through the different ramps and from level 1 to level 2? I would like to hear your opinion about that!!

Deadlifts are a great exercise that I did for most of my lifting career. Unfortunately, I got hurt overseas and now whenever I try to do them I get pain in my lower back. It's weird because I can still squat. I don't have a rounded back during the pull because I had my friend record my form on camera. If you can do them I would substitute them in one or two of the back sessions as long as you can handle it. You may not even want to deadlift doing this program because you're already squatting twice a week (if you're following my outline).

The exercises don't change when you go from the first 3 weeks into the supergrowth phase. I only do ramp 1 because other guys I know tried ramp 2 and 3 with less results. Ride out the ramp until you don't see results anymore. You only want 2 exercises per muscle group a week so you can continually improve on those compounds rapidly. It works very well because of the different rep ranges on different days.
