1 Week Out Pics...

Well Brenny, when we finally picked you out, we had you securely in the top 3 and possibly even 2nd! I am sorry you were not what the judges were looking for - I suppose the scrawny chicken-leg look is in.
It would have helped had I known you were in short class - I kept looking for you in that enormous gaggle of medium class. And the new hairstyle didn't help, either. :)
Finally found you in 3rd round (did lunch during 2nd round) when we moved up to the 4th row. By then my crew was down to two, and cheering seemed a little anti-climactic. But in my head I was cheering like crazy!
Back and shoulders were phenomenal! Abs looked tight, and loved the pec striations. IMO, your quads and calves were solid - perhaps the judges felt your hams weren't solid enough. Is that what they meant about sleeker legs?
Overall, we thought you did a fantastic job. Great smile!
BTW, I think I might have gotten bit by the bug. Gonna try a trial diet next year and see what happens...

Thanks Wheelspin. I wish I had to gotten to meet you. The head judge compared me to a race horse. He told me he believes I have a great future if I do what they say... I need to refine them to be long and lean. An NPC judge just critiqued my pics, said I would do better there than in Ontario b/c they seem to be going for skinny girls versus shape and symmetry. I'm doing an OPA show in May and NPC show in June so the real test will be there to see the difference in judging.

Well, I was the taller guy with the big muscles and the baseball hat. Oh, waitaminute... Hehe.
I was quite surprised that so few of the competitors were walking around after they were done. Usually the stands are filled with them. I was going to call you over, as I think one of your friends was behind us, but you never showed. Next time...
As far as being compared to horse, I would have bit the guy. Or kicked him. Hehe. Not very nice of him. A unicorn maybe... :)

We had pics taken afterwards, and it takes so damn long to get in and out of our suits we didn't have much time.

Funny you noticed the switch in hairstyles. The judges noticed that too when I came back out, one guys eyes popped right open at me...lol...

Brenny those pics are fantastic!! I love the legs!!!

What kind of approach are you going to take- to give them that longer look?

Here are some comparisons...
My suit was twisted for the prejudging...embarrassing but oh well things happen...my lower was thicker than the other girls, little softer too, but still...

One of the judges from the eastern panel told me I have National Level quality and I will be fine there, just it will be hard for me to get to it cause the regional judges still look for the less muscular girls.

Did they give it to the blonde? She was a little too dark, but looked good. We also thought the Asian gal (I think she did Masters too) looked decent.

Blond was 1, Asian 2, Little Blond 3

I think her color made her look better on stage than the rest of us. Next time I will use another coat as well.

honey... he told you the truth!! It is so fucked up that you can come in basically ready for a national quality show and still lose because the locals are so screwed up in their judging.. The "IDEA" of a local winner is someone that can go on to win nationals, yet it never ends up that way, which is so wrong it puts the W in wrong and the F in frustration!!!!

I am willing to bet that politics also played a vital role here... tall blonde sucked ass from those pics!! and from the pics alone, you and the short blonde look the best, then the asian then the tall blonde and then that thing on the end..
IMO, yea your legs can come down a bit.. you can do that pretty easily too.. but what you have that others dont is a shape!!! Your frame is there! just gotta fine tune! I am really proud of you!!! and i know you are gonna go far!

also do yourself a HUGE favor and listen to the judges, but do NOT make yourself crazy trying to mold into what each one wants.. Kelly Ryan did just that.. she kept changing for the judges and she hasn't gotten 1st yet... She did better when she listened to herself! so just keep that in the back of your mind.. Ger your body to where you know it looks and feels it's best... the rest is smoke and mirrors :) heheheh.. (yes another coat would be good) ie: protan, protan, protan topped with Jan Tana = perfection

CONGRATS BRENNYLEE!!!!

Thanks Supes! Your advice and comments are much appreciated. :)
The tall blond is the girl who won!! My coach actually said that the little blond and I were similar in structure. She was a sweet girl, she actually came up to me after the placings were announced and apologized to me for the politics...it was very sweet of her.

Politics were questioned for sure with me. I was not from the area and I was unknown at the show...but I did get my face out there, and they know I'm coming back better in '05. I got a lot of publicity which in itself makes me happy. My first show was a great experience, I learned a lot, and I know what I have to work on...now I am doing it and I will be back in '05 with a vengenance!!

BTW, I was told I had the great stage presence, so thank you deary for that posing hint!!!!! ;)

i bet there are at least 10 other guys that check in on this thread to see if my question was answered. we are all waiting patiently. thank you.

Brenny, I didnt get a chance to see you onstage, but met you backstage and you looked great... sweet voice too :)
To be honest though, at that level, politics really isnt a factor. For 90% of the girls on stage that day it was their first time competing, so they were all unknown to the judges.
The judges that day were from all across ontario, so whether or not your from the brantford area really didnt make a difference. Where the problem lies, is with the guidelines for figure judging, or lack thereof I should say... it basically ends up being a judges personal preference. Figure is even more subjective than bodybuilding, and given a different panel of judges that day, the outcome would be totally different. You should have seen the horrid judging at this years non tested Ontarios! Can you tell I'm not a fan of Rudy's figure judging?!?!
My point is, you looked great, you had fun, and it was a great experience for you regardless of outcome... Keep persevering... I know you will, you have a winners attitude!
