yup. pause squats w/a sumo stance work well too. i pull sumo but do the block pulls conv. its a good carry over.

block pulls are also a good back movement as its a longer range of motion.

even if you pull sumo, some conv stance training is beneficial.

thanks big guy. now i'm off to the internet to research on those box pulls. no idea on how to do those yet

thanks a bunch, big guy. tons of knowledge there. will watch vids at home. workplace doesn't allow it. do you think aerobic steppers can be used as blocks? if not, then I have to find one/make one and bring it to gym.

friday 09/08/06
cardio 45 minutes
4 bd w/monster minis dbld 315# 2 x 3reps
ab stuff

I don't understand the abreviations in your workouts. But they look cool. Hows the cutting coming along?

Nice vids btw

4 bd = 4 board for benching
monster mini's = #2 band
dbld = doubled

so........ i benched with the #2 bands doubled on each side plus 315# bar weight for 2 sets of 3 reps off the 4 board.

#2 bands dbld on ea side = about 120lbs of additional tension @ lockout.

body weight holding right around 277 for the last couple of weeks.

thats the box i pull off of. its 3 1/2" tall.

we had a little contest going that day so he got carried away and lost his form. you def want to use more legs if you working on bottom end power.

thank you for the much info, PB. last question: does the size of the box vary as you train further? I mean, can I use other than 3-1/2 inches box size as my deads go higher? thank you!

3 1/2 works well as you can still get your feet under the bar. if you get too big a box your feet wont slide in.

but you can vary heights if you like. its not a bnig deal. keep it simple and dont overthink this stuff.
